Robert Wright Sr., a beloved son of Jacksonville, Florida, entered eternal rest on June 16, 2026, closing a vibrant chapter that began on July 16, 1970, in the very city where he lived, loved, and left his indelible mark. A man known for his hearty laughter and playful spirit, Robert’s presence was a beacon of warmth and joy for those fortunate enough to know him. His passion for football was not merely a pastime but a testament to his unyielding spirit; an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, he carried the zeal of the game into every facet of his life.
Born and raised in Jacksonville, Robert was a proud graduate of William Raines High School, class of 1988, where the foundations of his character—resilience, loyalty, and a zest for life—were deeply rooted. His professional journey saw him dedicate many years as an asbestos removal technician, a role emblematic of his unwavering commitment to hard work and safety, quietly safeguarding the communities around him.
The fabric of Robert’s life is richly woven with the love and affection of his family. He leaves behind his cherished children, Rolanda Wright, Robert Wright Jr. with Kellonie, and De’juana Wright, who carry forward his legacy with pride and honor. Robert's grandchildren Robert Wright III and Kayleigh Wright who will truly miss him. Robert’s heart was also full with the presence of his siblings: Johnetta Elerby and Tony, Herbert Brown, Sylvia Montgomery and AD, Detrese Mixon and James, Patricia Williams and Tommy, Kimberly Green and Arnold, James Rivers Sr. and Francine, Eddie Lee Wright Jr., and Christopher Wright, alongside Deborah Thomas and John. Together, they shared in the joys and challenges of life, a testament to a deeply connected family bond.
We also remember with reverence those who have gone before him—his sister Jannie Mae River and his beloved parents, Johnnie Mae Wright and Eddie Lee Wright Sr., whose memories and values him carried closely to his heart.
The community will gather to celebrate Robert’s life with a visitation on June 26, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Weston's Mortuary, located at 3027 Myrtle Ave N, Jacksonville, FL 32209. This prelude to farewell will be followed by a funeral service on June 27, 2026, at 11:00 AM at New Vision Assembly, 795 Ontario Street, Jacksonville, FL 32254, where friends and family will unite in honoring a life lived with humor, courage, and steadfast devotion.
