HORACE l COON SR

Minister Horace Coon, Sr. was born to Jessie and Pennie Coon on October 1, 1953 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was educated in the Duval County Public School system and graduated from New Stanton High School. He served his country by enlisting in the United States Army National Guard. He was a long distance truck driver by trade for over 40 years. Horace was a devoted member of Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He was currently a faithful and dedicated member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in St. Augustine, Florida. Horace believed strongly in ensuring the well-being and protection of his family. He was a strong yet caring man and left a lasting impression on you. People just naturally gravitated towards him. He loved great gospel music and singing. They knew that they would have a great time in his presence. His greatest pastime was simply enjoying life while fishing and watching the clouds move around as the sun would rise and set. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Pinnie Coon; siblings, James Coon and Jesse Coon, Jr.; nephew, James L. Coon, Jr. and niece, Felicia Coon Thomas. Horace’s life will forever be loved and cherished by his loving and devoted wife, Angela Vanessa Neal Coon; children, Avril Sherman, Horace Coon, Jr., Malena Coon, Miaa Coon Easton (Sylvester), Danielle Coon, Brittany Robie, Chris Bradley, LaQuista Trotter, Keiaunte’ Trotter and Gregory Trotter, Jr.; fourteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Hattie M. Corbitt, Annie M. Porter, Mary L. Howard, Joan L. Jones, Cozzie M. Wilson; brothers, Reverend Robert Thomas (Carolyn), Fred L. Lester, Jonny L. Lester and Harold Hart; in-laws, Sharon Coon, Kevin J. Neal (Kerwynn), Amy Neal Robinson and Tracy Neal Jones (Tony); goddaughters, Gloria Rodan, Taneiah Randolph and Shirley Maddox (Rev. Loye, Jr.); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and family friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 17, 2021 from 5:00PM-7:00PM at Weston's Mortuary, 3027 North Myrtle Avenue, Jacksonville, Florida 32209.

The Worship Celebration honoring Horace Coon, Sr. will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Church of the Living God of Our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, Inc., 1750 Prospect Street East, Jacksonville, Florida 32254. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens-South.
