Hilton Theodore Meadows died peacefully on November 19, 2022 at his Son’s home in Jacksonville, Florida. Hilton was predeceased by his father Glynn Meadows, his mother Evelyn Harris, his step- mother Eleanor Meadows, his sister Nadine Lutz and grandson Andrew Rivera. Hilton is survived by his brother Terry Meadows, his daughter Cindy and David Mathews, and sons Michael Meadows, Scott Meadows, and Rick Attaway, grandchildren Sydney Meadows, Mark and Gaiya Miller, Brook Mathews, Angela Mathews, Lauren Meadows and Brittany Gontner and their respective families. Hilton was born in Holmes County Florida on May 7, 1933. He attended Bethlehem Schools. After serving in the Army as a Captain during the Korean War Hilton attended Auburn University and then the University of Florida and graduated with a Masters Degree. Hilton worked as a County Agent for the State of Florida for several years before being recalled to duty to serve in Reserves. He later worked for the State University System and helped establish and build the University of West Florida in Pensacola and ultimately was tasked with moving to Jacksonville to help oversee the planning and development of the University of North Florida, where he served as their first Facility Manager. Hilton also passed the Landscape Architects Registration Exam and continued in constant practice at Diversified Environmental Planning until his death. Hilton was dedicated to his profession almost as diligently as he was to his family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was charismatic, intelligent, and enthusiastic man always striving to continue learning and sharing his knowledge with family, friends and colleagues alike. He worked diligently to improve his and the overall professional practice of Landscape Architecture serving as State President of ASLA and as Governmental Affairs representative for ASLA. He was actively involved in local politics and fought vigorously for the fair and justifiable and transparent operation of both State and local government. His family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to Community Hospice for their care in his final weeks. There will be a small family service at the Veterans Cemetary in Jacksonville, Florida
