Willie Walker Blackshear, resident of Jacksonville, Florida, answered the call of the Master on Friday, January 15, 2021.
Willie was employed at the Jacksonville Naval Air Station base as a logistic technician and procurement specialist for 20 years until his eyesight forced him to retire early. Despite his blindness, Willie was always the life of the party, telling jokes, playing cards, smoking cigars, and reminding others to have JOY despite their circumstances. Through all his health challenges, Willie never complained!
Willie was a faithful brother in the Masonic Order, Prince Hall Affiliated and was a lifetime member of Rabia Temple #8 A.E.A.O.N.M.S.
Mr. Blackshear is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Mrs. Ann S. Blackshear; son: Willie Anthony Blackshear (Kathryn); daughter: Angelette R. Walker (Joel); two grandchildren: Jace Alexander Walker and Katelyn Amari-Inez Blackshear; and a host of family and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, January 22, 2021 at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, 800 Hammond Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida 32221 .
Visitation from 5-7 pm, Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Weston’s Mortuary, 3027 N. Myrtle Avenue, Jacksonville, Florida 32209.
